Representatives from the scouting department at Premier League giants Liverpool were in attendance at the showdown between Portugal and Ghana to further gauge the talents of a star member of the latter’s squad, according to reports.
The player in question? Mohammed Kudus.
As per a report from Sports World Ghana, the powers that be at Anfield requested that several members of the club’s scouting setup travel to Doha, to watch Kudus on world football’s biggest stage.
And such individuals, for the most part, are likely to have been impressed by what they witnessed.
This came as Ghana’s versatile midfield talent enjoyed a fine evening’s work against one of the heavyweights of the international scene.
Albeit en route to an eventual hard-fought defeat, the 22-year-old saw out 77 minutes, even chipping in with a fine assist for Andre Ayew’s equaliser late in proceedings at the Stadium 974.
1-1 Ghana.

Liverpool, in need of reinforcements both in midfield and attack, are therefore keeping a close eye on his situation in Amsterdam, with a view to a potential future bid.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, though, could too yet enter the fray, also understood to boast a long-standing interest in Kudus’ services.
