Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham in a deal worth over £100m.
The striker, who leads Tottenham and England’s all-time goalscoring charts, will join the German Champions on a four year deal and could make his debut in the German Super Cup vs RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.
“We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term”, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy explained. “Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer. We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer”.
Kane, meanwhile, is keen to get started.
“I’m very happy to be part of Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’ve always said that I want to move and prove myself at the highest level in my career”, the 30-year-old explained.

Kane will take the no.9 shirt in Bavaria, and will now be aiming to fulfil his lifelong dream of winning major silverware, with Bayern heavy favourites to win all of Germany’s domestic competitions and expected to go deep in the Champions League too.
Hard to put into words how to say goodbye to a club and fans who have done so much for me in my career. You will always be in my heart. Thank you Tottenham, thank you Tottenham fans. 💙 pic.twitter.com/L662cyax7p

He leaves the Premier League 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record in the competition, a record he will surely have his eye on should he opt to return in the years to come.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have lost their talisman 24 hours before the start of their new season, when they play Brentford on Sunday. It is expected that they will sign a replacement, as well as another defender and perhaps a winger before the end of the transfer window.
