A head-turning statistic, highlighting the struggles of hitman Gabriel Jesus, has come to the fore on the back of Arsenal’s meeting with Southampton late on Friday.

Mikel Arteta’s troops were of course back in action a short time ago.

Fresh off a pair of disappointing draws with Liverpool and West Ham United, the Gunners welcomed bottom-of-the-table Southampton to north London, desperate for a return to winning ways.

When all was said and done, however, Arsenal, just, failed to get the job done.

Despite battling back from a pair of two-goal deficits to level things up with 90 minutes on the clock, a crucial 4th goal evaded the hosts at the last, en route to an eventual 3-3 stalemate.

One Gunners star who will no doubt be particularly disappointed not to have found the net late in the action, meanwhile, comes in the form of Gabriel Jesus.

And such woes on the part of the former Manchester City hitman have since given rise to a statistic which will likely spark ensuing concern across the Arsenal fanbase.

As per statistician Duncan Alexander, Jesus has been responsible for the biggest underperformance between expected goals (xG) and goals scored of any player in the Premier League this season.
