Rúben Dias is out for up to a month after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Jack Gaughan.
The defender picked up the injury against Switzerland and completed the full 90 minutes.
He then went on to play the full 90 minutes again against Morroco in the quarter-finals.
City still have plenty of other options though with Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Aké, Manuel Akanji and John Stones.
Matches Dias is set to miss
One month out of action could potentially see the Portuguese defender miss up to eight league fixtures.
He would miss key games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham during the run.
Although, the Daily Mail add that he is hoping to prove his fitness ahead of the Manchester derby on January 14.
