Liverpool have tabled a 25m euro bid for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga, and will allow the Spanish side to keep him for the upcoming season, it has been reported.
The Reds have undergone major midfield surgery already this summer, signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in deals worth a combined £100m this summer, but have seen several midfielders depart this summer including influential pair Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, both of whom have headed to Saudi Arabia in deals worth a combined £52m.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have also submitted a second bid for Southampton talent Romeo Lavia, having made him their no.1 target, while they are also thought to be in contact with Brazilian side Fluminese over a potential £21m deal for 22-year-old midfielder Andre.

Now, reports suggest that they are targeting a FIFTH new midfielder this summer in the form of Veiga, who broke out last season for Celta Vigo and managed 11 goals.
The 21-year-old has also been earmarked by Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea as a potential midfield addition, and has a release clause of £34m in his contract active this summer, which the Spanish side are certain will be activated.
“We do not want to sell him under any circumstances but they are going to buy him from us. He will decide where he wants to go but that club will have to pay the clause”, Celta Vigo’s president Carlos Mourino explained at the end of last season.
It is unlikely that Celta would accept such an offer, and Veiga’s stock is only likely to rise this season, but it is yet another sign that Liverpool’s summer transfer window is far from done.
