Manchester United team news & predicted line-up vs Leeds United

Second-half strikes from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho helped spare United’s blushes at home after going 2-0 behind by half-time, but the resiliency shown by the Red Devils could carry over at the weekend as Erik ten Hag’s men push to climb ahead of Manchester City

A somewhat fortuitous yet frustrating 2-2 draw last night saw title-hungry Manchester United held at Old Trafford by a struggling Leeds United outfit who has their backs against the wall as they battle relegation in the midst of a managerial vacancy.

Erik ten Hag’s men were hardly at the races in the first forty-five minutes in front of home support, but the response is just what the doctor ordered as the Premier League giants battled back in a manner so often seen at the Theatre of Dreams across the club’s history. Still, in order to keep pace and the hope of tracking down both Arsenal and Manchester City ahead of them in the table, Ten Hag’s men will have to dig deep at Elland Road if they are to get back into the win column with the possibility of leapfrogging City in the table come the end of the weekend program.

Predicted Manchester United XI

Manchester United Team News

  • Out: Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial
  • Suspension: Casemiro
  • Doubt: Antony

Erik ten Hag will be thankful for a point against Leeds United at Old Trafford last night after his Red Devils went down 2-0 in the first half, but in the grand scheme of things, the Dutch tactician will be hoping for a better response from the first minute at Elland Road. Thankfully, United does not have any fresh fitness concerns coming into Sunday’s clash.

Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and Anthony Martial are all guaranteed to be unavailable once again, while Casemiro is still serving his suspension for a straight red card against Crystal Palace.

Brazilian international winger Antony will face a late assessment after missing yesterday’s draw and could play a part in proceedings if he is given the all-clear, but Jadon Sancho’s heroics off the bench against Leeds could mean that the England man is given the nod in the XI.
