An unsettling story surrounding developments in the aftermath of Liverpool’s meeting with Manchester City has come to the fore late on Saturday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s troops, of course, made the daunting trip to The Etihad earlier today.
After being condemned to successive defeats in their final two outings leading into the international break, the Reds headed into proceedings desperate for a bounce-back result.
When all was said and done, however, once more, Liverpool’s efforts came up short.
Despite taking the lead in the clash courtesy of an early Mohamed Salah strike, ensuing goals on the part of all of Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish proved enough to guide hosts City to the right side of a 4-1 result.

As alluded to above, though, the woes of Jurgen Klopp’s squad did not come to an end with the final whistle sounding in Manchester this afternoon.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have launched an investigation into an alleged attack on Liverpool’s team bus on its return journey following a 4-1 Premier League defeat at the Etihad on Saturday.’
The incident in question is understood to have seen a brick thrown at the coach, resulted in a cracked window.
Thankfully, none on board were injured.
In an official statement of their own regarding the matter, Manchester City have since confirmed their intention to ‘fully support Greater Manchester Police’s investigation’:
“Manchester City FC has been made aware that Liverpool FC’s coach sustained damage on its return journey following today’s game.
“We understand an object was thrown towards the coach in a residential area. Incidents of this kind are totally unacceptable, and we strongly condemn the actions of the individual(s) responsible.
“We will fully support Greater Manchester Police’s investigation into this incident in any way we can.”
