Leicester City head coach Dean Smith has, on Saturday evening, provided a fresh update on the wellbeing of James Maddison.
For those who may have missed it, midfielder Maddison was a last-minute scratch from Leicester’s squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier today.
This came as it was revealed that the England international had come down with a bout of illness overnight.
‘Unfortunately, I got that dreaded phone call at 10am from the doctor to say he’s been unwell during the night, and he won’t be available for selection,’ Dean Smith confirmed.

Speaking again post-match, Leicester’s headmaster was therefore drawn on Maddison’s status for the week ahead.
This comes as the Foxes prepare for another crunch relegation showdown, hopeful of besting Leeds after putting Wolves to the sword by two goals to one earlier today.
‘The doctor told me this morning,’ Smith added. ‘Hopefully he will be fit to train on Monday. He was one of the first to get me just then.’
