Wolverhampton Wanderers have finally confirmed the addition of Julen Lopetegui as their new manager following the departure of Bruno Lage five weeks ago.
Lage was sacked at the beginning of October following his side’s fourth defeat of the season, though he was hardly helped by a striker crisis that saw star signing Sasa Kalajdzic picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury on debut, ruling him out for the season.
They have since won once under caretaker boss Steve Davis, taking just four points from a possible 15 and leaving them in 29th place, two points from safety.
Now, however, they have announced that former Spain and Real Madrid boss Lopetegui will be taking the hotseat, though that will not be until the beginning of the World Cup break, with the coach still awaiting work permits.
Lopetegui, who most recently managed Sevilla before being relieved from his duties following a poor start to the season both domestically and in Europe, will be in attendance to watch his side’s clash with Arsenal in the final clash ahead of the World Cup, though he will not take charge officially until the following Monday.
We are delighted to announce Julen Lopetegui will take charge as our new head coach on Monday 14th November.

It is something of a coup for Wolves, with Jorge Mendes once again using his agency links to pull a rabbit out of the hat for the midlands outfit.
“Since the very beginning, Julen has been our number one choice to manage Wolves, and we look forward to welcoming him and his team when they join us in the coming weeks.”
