Arsenal’s supporters have flooded to social media on Saturday afternoon, to aim their frustrations firmly in the direction of Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
Fresh off the back of an alarming 3-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace earlier in the week, Arteta and co. welcomed an altogether out-of-form Brighton outfit to north London, desperate for a bounce-back result.
When all was said and done at the Emirates, however, the day’s hosts saw their top-4 dream dealt what could prove to be a fatal blow, en route to another loss, this time by two goals to one.
After strikes on the part of Leandro Trossard and Enock Mwepu guided Brighton into a shock 2-0 lead, Martin Odegaard’s deflected finish from long range inside the closing five minutes ultimately proved little more than a consolation, amid a miserable afternoon all-round from an Arsenal perspective.
The Gunners are behind!
Leandro Trossard’s brilliant finish has Brighton 1-0 up at The Emirates. Arsenal had a goal ruled out just before half-time through VAR.

‘Cost us top-4’
On the back of the final whistle bringing a close to proceedings in the English capital on Saturday afternoon, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the Arsenal faithful being up in arms online.
And, as alluded to above, it is one man who, above all others, has been forced to bear the brunt of the blame.
The individual in question? Mikel Arteta.
Amid the widespread agreement that the Spaniard got not only his team selection, but tactics wrong on the day, too, the Gunners faithful have shown no mercy in their criticism of the club’s boss, with just some of the highlights from across social media showcased below:
Fuck it, top 4 is done arteta needs to be gone and we need to sort this fucking team out #artetaout

The manager has to be responsible for the decisions he took in January no doubt. Not getting a striker and relying on Laca/Eddie for 4th was tending on a thin line. He gambled and has it has cost us at vital time

This is on Arteta, you bought tavarez because you didn’t want xhaka to play LB but you’ve done exactly that in such a game because nuno had one bad game.

FFS. Trust the process? I wouldn’t trust Arteta to boil me an egg at the moment. #ARSBHA

Thanks for the memories. Time to leave @m8arteta. #ArtetaOut

Arteta ‘s decision to “push” Auba out without a replacement looks terrible now considering his crazy form at Barca and Arsenal struggling for goals. Arsenal could have done with Aubameyang ‘s quality & experience in this top 4 push. #ARSBHA

This defeat is on Arteta. Galaxy brain nonsense on display. Why overthink it. Cost us top 4. Well done 👏
