Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans has, on Friday, spoken out over his early struggles since making the move to Villa Park.
Midfielder Tielemans, of course, surprised the masses this summer, in putting pen to paper on terms with Unai Emery’s troops.
After allowing his contract with Leicester City to expire on the back of the club’s relegation to The Championship, the Belgian international, despite links with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, opted for Aston as his latest destination.
Safe to say, however, that Tielemans is unlikely to have envisioned his career in Claret and Blue getting off to the kind of start which it since has.
Across Villa’s four Premier League fixtures to date, the 26-year-old has not managed a single start, instead restricted to a bit-part role off the bench.
This comes with Unai Emery currently favouring the engine room pairing of Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara.
And the former Anderlecht talent was not shy in admitting that:
‘I told Emery that I came to Villa to play. He understands me.’
Tielemans also moved to provide reassurance to those hopeful of seeing his game-time increase over the weeks and months to come, though, in adding:
“He told me that soon, there will be a succession of games and I’ll get more playing time.”
