Paris Saint Germain ultras have revealed that they plan on protesting against Lionel Messi’s potential new contract, a week after they crashed out of the Champions League.

The French champions fell to a 3-0 aggregate scoreline to German giants Bayern Munich, with Lionel Messi hardly having a sniff at the Allianz Arena, much to the chagrin of PSG fans.

Lionel Messi running on the pitch

The Argentine has recovered some of his Barcelona form this season after a poor first season in the French capital, with 13 goals and 13 assists in 22 Ligue 1 outings, as well as eight goal contributions in 7 Champions League outings.

But, as it stands the veteran is out of contract at the end of the season. The French side remain keen on keeping Messi beyond this summer, and it is thought that Messi himself would also be open to staying.

However, the Paris Saint Germain faithful are not so keen on keeping him at the club, and are not afraid to make their opinions clear. In fact, they are planning to protest the decision at the weekend’s clash with Rennes.

“We will whistle at him”, a spokesperson explained. “He charges too much in relation to what he offers on the pitch. We don’t want him to continue.”

A move to Barcelona has been mooted, along with a potential move to Saudi Arabia in the summer. However, staying at PSG has not been ruled out even should the ultras not be so keen.
