Palmer’s tally during an extraordinary first season since moving to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City currently stands at 21 goals, while he has also provided nine assists.

The 22-year-old is the first Chelsea player to scoop up the Player of the Month award since Eden Hazard all the way back in September 2018 – and the first Englishman since Frank Lampard in October 2008.

Palmer was also named on the eight-player shortlist for Premier League Player of the Season alongside Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Ollie Watkins, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Virgil van Dijk.

The Dyche is right

Sean Dyche picked up the manager’s award for April after steering Everton to safety during a season in which they were deduced eight points.

The Toffees boss oversaw a huge win over rivals Liverpool as well as beating Burnley, Brentford and Nottingham Forest to preserve their status as a Premier League ever-present.

It was Everton’s first home win against their rivals for 14 years and also dealt a huge blow to the red half of Merseyside’s title hopes.

“The derby win is the one that stands out,” the 52-year-old told Everton’s official website.

“To deliver such a tactically strong performance and find the big moments in front of the fans at Goodison and the recent history of that game was pleasing.”
