Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has told his team-mates to make a sharp start against Borussia Dortmund in the 2024 Uefa Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The most successful side in the history of European football are seeking a 15th title in the competition when they face opponents bidding to add to their maiden triumph in 1996/97.
“It’s a unique match and we have to start strong,” said the Brazil international, who has provided five goals and five assists for Madrid on their run to the final, speaking to Madrid’s TV channel.
“It’s a very important week and we hope we can win again. I hope I can score, but the most important thing is to win. We’ve only lost two games and hopefully we can finish the season like that. It’s a very important week and hopefully we can win again.”

Madrid’s only defeat since September in all competitions came against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey in January, helped by 23 goals in 38 games by Vinicius Jr.
Dortmund have had a more mixed season, losing seven times as part of a fifth-placed finish in the Bundesliga and suffering two defeats in the Champions League.
Madrid v Dortmund: Vinicius Jr looks ahead
Edin Terzic’s side won both legs of their semi-final with Paris St-Germain 1-0 and face another daunting task to contain an attack including the likes of Vinicius Jr, fellow Selecao attacker Rodrygo and top scorer Jude Bellingham.
Vinicius Jr said he expects to be tightly marked but will rely upon the tactical guidance of four-time Champions League-winning Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.
“German players are always difficult and they’ll be very close to me,” he predicted. “But we’ll see what the coach prepares in order to do our best”.
“I’ve never been scared of losing the ball and that’s what has taken me this far. Not every player can wear this jersey or train with these legends. The unity of this team is what makes us happy.”
