Ipswich Town have tied head coach Kieran McKenna down with a new four-year contract.
The 38-year-0ld recently guided the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League, ending their 22-year absence from the top flight.
He had reportedly been on Chelsea and Brighton’s radar as a potential replacement for Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi respectively.
But after considering his options, the former Manchester United assistant coach has committed to the Suffolk side.

What has he had to say?
McKenna said: “I am extremely proud to have signed a new contract with the club.
“We have enjoyed incredible success together over the last two seasons and I’m excited to have the opportunity and responsibility of leading this fantastic club into its first season in the Premier League in 22 years.
“Preparation and planning for the challenge ahead has been ongoing since we won promotion at the beginning of May, with plenty of work still to do before the start of the new season at what is such an exciting time for everyone at the club.
“I am so happy to have committed my future to taking the next step with Ipswich Town and am really excited for what’s ahead as we continue this journey together.”

McKenna’s previous contract was due to expire in 2025, but the Northern Irishman now has job security as he faces up to the task of keeping Ipswich in the Premier League and avoiding the drop straight back down.
He was recently voted the League Managers Association Manager of the Year for his efforts in 2023-24.

The East Anglians finished one point behind Championship winners Leicester, accumulating 96 points and scoring 92 goals, the most in the division.

“Success brings its own challenges and there has been considerable speculation in recent weeks, but Kieran and I have continued to communicate throughout, often several times a day, as we plan for the club’s first Premier League season in a generation.
