Liverpool and Newcastle are reportedly on high alert after Bryan Mbeumo hinted at potentially being ready to leave Brentford.
The 24-year-old Bees wide-man told French publication L’Equipe that he wants to ‘play in the biggest competitions at the best clubs.’
The Cameroon international – who has scored twice in 11 appearances for the Indomitable Lions – is contracted to Brentford until 2026 with the club understood to have the option to extend the deal by a further season.
The former France under-21 international told L’Equipe: “I have spent five seasons at Brentford, at a club that has helped me grow and turn a corner.
“But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, at the best clubs. It’s still exciting to see some of the big teams interested in me. We’ll see.”
Mbeumo has scored 50 goals and assisted 42 more in 200 games for the club, predominantly coming in off the right flank, with nine Premier League goals and six assists in 25 games in an injury hit 2023/24 campaign.
He signed for Brentford from French club Troyes in 2019 for a fee in excess of £5m and scored 15 goals to help them secure promotion from the Championship.
Ivan Toney is another Brentford forward who has been linked with a move away this summer.
