Erik Ten Hag will remain as Manchester United manager next season after the club’s board completed an end of season review.
The Dutchman is now expected to be offered a contract extension, with his current deal set to run out at the end of 2024/25.
Ten Hag led United to victory in the FA Cup Final against Man City last month, but the triumph was clouded by speculation over his future at Old Trafford.
BBC Sport reported that the 54-year-old is delighted at the outcome of the club-led review which followed the Wembley win, though he had been frustrated with the amount of time it was taking for clarity about his position.
England manager Gareth Southgate was reported to be the preferred option of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe but his involvement with Euro 2024 this summer meant he was not prepared to open talks about his future until after England’s campaign is over – a risk United decided was not worth taking.

The owners are also understood to have sounded out former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel about the possibility of taking over at Old Trafford while the availability of Mauricio Pochettino after leaving Chelsea did not turn United’s head.
Other names linked with the role included Graham Potter, another former Blues boss, Roberto De Zerbi, who succeeded Potter at Brighton and Brentford’s Thomas Frank.
Last season United finished eighth – the lowest they have finished since the Premier League was established in 1992 – despite having invested heavily in Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojland and Mason Mount.
They also finished bottom of their Champions League group, though Ten Hag would point to their high number of injuries sustained throughout the campaign.
The Red Devils had come third in his first season after succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, 2022/23, also winning the EFL Cup and reaching the FA Cup Final too.
