Steve Cooper is the frontrunner to become the new Leicester boss as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
The former Nottingham Forest head coach has been out of work since being sacked by the club late last year but is now reportedly on the verge of signing with their Midlands rivals.
According to the BBC, Graham Potter was also considered for the role alongside West Brom manager Carlos Corberan.
But rumours surrounding former Brighton and Chelsea head coach Potter have now been extinguished.
The 49-year-old was also approached for the job a few days after he was sacked by Chelsea, two seasons ago, but was not ready to return straight away.
And he will now have to wait even longer to find his next role as Cooper closes in on a deal.

Leicester won the Championship last season and returned to the top flight having spent one season away.
They lost previous boss Enzo Maresca to Chelsea following their dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Cooper will face Tottenham at home in the opening game of the season but he could be thrown straight into trouble.
The Foxes are at risk of being given a points deduction for the upcoming campaign having breached profit and sustainability rules.
Cooper was revered at Forest but his time in charge came to a natural end as the Tricky Trees looked destined for relegation.
His departure was met with a mixed response from Forest fans but their opinion on the matter may now change as he joins their rivals.
