Kylian Mbappe would be prepared to sue PSG if they don’t pay him money he says he is owed, according to the player’s mum.

The 25-year-old France phenomenon was unveiled as a Real Madrid player on a five-year contract this week after the expiry of his contract with the Ligue 1 champions in June.

ESPN report Mbappe believes he is due a £70m bonus and two months wages from last season.

His mother Fayza Lamari told Le Parisien: “If we have no other choice, of course (we would sue). I really hope the contract we signed two years ago is respected.

“Let’s stop saying Kylian said or didn’t say this or did or didn’t do that – in reality no one can say what happened because for two years Kylian and the president (of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi) always met alone.

“All that has not stopped Kylian from playing since his announcement was made in February (that he would be leaving the club).”

PSG claim Mbappe agreed for the club to hold back the money in lieu of a transfer fee for him.

His mother likened the transfer to the break up of a marriage, adding: “Sometimes, when you separate, you have to decide who gets the TV, who gets the car. That’s where we are. I hope all this does not tarnish everything – that we do not leave like this.

“As in a couple, everything is never easy, there are ups and downs, but in six months things will be better.”

Paris-born Mbappe was close to joining Madrid in 2022 only to be persuaded to sign a new two-year deal at the Parc des Princes, where he went on to become the club’s all-time top scorer with 255 goals and won six French titles in seven seasons.
