Tottenham have confirmed Sergio Reguilon and Bryan Gil can leave the club after being left out of Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the pre-season tour of Japan and Korea.

A party of 31 will head to the Far East as Spurs step-up preparations for their Premier League opener at Leicester on August 19, but the Spaniards were not among them, with the club website claiming they were granted permission to miss the tour in order to ‘explore prospective transfer opportunities.’

One player who does travel, despite being linked with a move away, is Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal, who is reportedly a target for Milan.

Spurs have beaten Hearts 5-1 and QPR 2-0 in pre-season so far, and will face Vissel Kobe before flying to South Korea to take on a K-League All-Stars side and Bayern Munich – though former star Harry Kane will not be involved, according to new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany.

Gil only appeared 12 times last season in all competitions, starting only twice and playing 233 minutes in total all season.

The 23-year-old has spent three years at Spurs since arriving from Sevilla in a deal worth more than £20m but had loan spells with Valencia and Sevilla in his first two seasons.

Reguilon spent the whole of last season on loan, firstly at Man United where he made 10 apperances as cover for Luke Shaw, then at Brentford, where he started 15 of the Bees final 17 Premier League games.

The 27-year-old played 52 Premier Leagues for Spurs across 20/21 and 21/22 but has not started a game since April 2022 and went out on loan at Atletico Madrid in 22/23.

While Gil has two years remaining on his contract, Reguilon is entering the final year of his deal.

Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is another name missing from the squad as he is expected to be unveiled as a Marseille player any day now after a £13m move.
