Man United defender Luke Shaw will miss the opening three Premier League games of the season through injury.
The 29-year-old left-back picked up a calf injury in pre-season and has been ruled out of the season opener at home to Fulham on Friday night.
He will also miss the trip to Brighton eight days later and the bumper clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 1.

United hope Shaw will be fit to return after the international break, with The Red Devils heading to newly-promoted Southampton, Shaw’s former club, on Saturday, September 14.
A statement on the club website said: “Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training. He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break.”
Shaw missed the final three months of the Premier League season and United FA Cup win over Man City in May after picking up an ankle injury against Luton in February.
He was named in England’s squad for the European Championships but was not fit for the opening four games, making appearances off the bench in the quarter-final win over Switzerland and the last-four victory over the Netherlands before starting his only match in the final defeat against Spain.
