Two European giants meet on the opening night of the new Champions League campaign as AC Milan host Liverpool.

These two clubs have won the competition a combined 13 times and have met in the final more than once over the years.

But here they face each other in a new Champions League format and will be looking to earn three points and head to the top of the gigantic league table.

Youssouf Fofana will do his usual duties commanding the midfield, as will Tijjani Reijnders.

An a star-studded attacking line will include Rafael Leao, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and summer signing Alvaro Morata.

The Reds have also gone strong, despite fielding their best XI in the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Alisson naturally fills in between the sticks and a backline of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Konstantinos Tsmikas will head out under the lights at San Siro.

Ryan Gravenberch retains his place in midfield after impressing his fellow Dutchman.

Alexis Mac Allister gets the nod alongside him with Dominik Szoboszlai playing in a more attacking midfield role.
