Pep Guardiola insists he “likes it in England” after being questioned about his plans when his Manchester City contract expires.
Guardiola’s current deal expires at the end of the season – midway through the Club World Cup – with speculation growing that 2024-25 could be his final campaign with the Citizens.
The 53-year-old has also been linked with the England manager’s job following Gareth Southgate’s departure.
But he offered a glowing endorsement of his current club, where he has enjoyed eight trophy-laden years, and suggested he did not want to leave any time soon.
Asked by an Italian journalist after City’s 0-0 draw with Serie A side Inter Milan whether he would consider a move to Italy, the 53-year-old insisted he is very happy where he is.
“I love Italy but I really enjoy being here,” he said.
“I love English football. It is fantastic. I really enjoy it. They leave you alone to get on with your job. That doesn’t happen anywhere else.
“This is a great club. I really feel good here. I am pleased to be here.”

City performed below their usual impeccable standards during their 0-0 draw at the Etihad, with star striker Erling Haaland – who has nine goals in the Premier League this season already – struggling to have an impact on the game.
The Norwegian striker had just one shot and 14 touches throughout the 90 minutes.
But defending his No9, Guardiola said: “There were six players around him, three behind, three in front.
“That makes it difficult for any player.
“We tried to use the spaces, that is why [Ilkay] Gundogan had a couple of chances.
“I knew Inter would play like that. Credit to them. We created a couple of really clear opportunities but we didn’t score.”
