Wojciech Szczesny has admitted it would be “disrespectful” not consider a move to Barcelona.

The Polish goalkeeper, who announced his retirement last month, is strongly reported to be close to making a sh to solve Barca’sock return to solve goalkeeper crisis.

First-choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to miss at least seven months of action with a serious knee injury sustained in their 5-1 win over Villarreal over the weekend, leaving the LaLiga side in desperate need of another stopper.

And the former Juventus keeper has confirmed there is an offer on the table to head to the Camp Nou.

“I respect Barca’s history very much; they are one of the best clubs in the world,” the 34-year-old said.

“I understand the difficult situation that has been generated after the injury of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and I think it would be disrespectful on my part not to consider this option.”

Szczesny made 252 appearances for Juve between 2017 and 2024 before announcing his retirement in late August, with his contract being mutually terminated.

He also won 84 international caps for Poland as well as representing Arsenal and Roma during his career.

Inaki Pena is set to be the man between the sticks against Getafe on Wednesday night as the hunt for a more established keeper continues.

But manager Hansi Flick says he has full trust in the 25-year-old as they look to strengthen their lead at the top of the table.

“Inaki is doing very well, he is very professional and has trained very hard. He is focused, despite being an assistant coach. We trust him,” said Flick.

“We will see what we do, we also have very young players in defence. At the moment, we do not feel under pressure and we trust Inaki.”
