Trevoh Chalobah could make his Crystal Palace debut when the Eagles visit Goodison Park on Saturday (3pm BST) in a meeting of two teams still seeking their first wins of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Centre-back Chalobah was injured during his first training session after signing on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the campaign.

“This is our first complete training week with this group,” manager Oliver Glasner said. “It’s the first week in September. I’ve experienced a lot in football but never having the first complete training week with your squad at the end of September.”

Palace injuries

USA international Chris Richards is Palace’s only new injury absentee with a hamstring problem the 24-year-old sustained during the week.

Midfielder Cheick Doucoure and defender Chadi Riad remain out, while forward Matheus Franca has returned to training but will not feature.

“Franca won’t be in the squad because it was his first complete week with us,” said Glasner. “After almost six months, it would be unfair to him to be in the squad – but he feels well and he has no problems.”

Palace results

Palace are yet to go ahead in the top flight but have drawn three of their first five games to stand two points above the Toffees.

A goalless stalemate at home to Manchester United last Saturday followed a 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City and a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

They have also won 2-1 at Queens Park Rangers and beaten Norwich City 4-0 at home to reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton have taken the lead in their last three Premier League matches but only earned their first point with a 1-1 draw at Leicester on Saturday.

“We know what we can expect from the game,” said Glasner. “They have a clear style of how they play: direct, very physical. [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin is a target player, quick wingers going into a one-v-one situations, crosses from everywhere off the pitch.

“They are very threatening… this is how they scored many goals. They had a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth, they had a 2-0 lead against Aston Villa, they had the lead at Leicester, but they never brought the lead over the finishing line.

“We know they have a lot of power in their attacking style. They also have some weaknesses in their defence to give you some spaces. We have to neutralise their strengths but we also have to use our chances and opportunities to score goals.”
