Tottenham defender Djed Spence has signed a new contract which keeps him at the club until 2028.

The 24-year-old right-back joined Spurs from Middlesbrough in July 2022 and has made 10 appearances to date.

Since that move, Spence has spent time on loan at Rennes, Leeds and Genoa but has played an increased role under Ange Postecoglou this season.

He has made four appearances for the Lillywhites this term, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Coventry in September.

Spence is currently behind Pedro Porro in the pecking order at right-back but has come off the bench in Premier League gaes against Leicester, Everton and Manchester United.

The defender was not included in Tottenham’s squad for the Europa League this season, meaning he cannot play in Europe unless he selected in the roster for the knockout rounds, should they qualify.

The London-born full-back earned his move to Spurs off the back of an impressive season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Boro, scoring three goals in 46 appearances as they were promoted to the Premier League.

Between 2022 and 2023, he made six appearances for the England Under-21s under current senior interim boss Lee Carsley.
