Young Sr appears likely to feature in the January clash at Goodison Park after making 13 appearances for Sean Dyche’s men this season.

There is sure to be plenty of banter around the Christmas dinner table as Tyler sets his sights on getting himself in the squad to face his dad.

Dad vs sons in football

Famous father and son duos in football have been seen plenty of times – see Patrick and Justin Kluivert, Alf-Inge and Erling Haaland and Rory and Liam Delap.

But occasions where dads and their lads have faced each other is surely one of the first of its kind at the top level, and is testament to Young Sr’s longevity in the game.

The former Watford, Aston Villa and United winger made his Hornets debut in 2003, with the 2024-25 campaign his 21st in professional football.
