Chelsea have not enjoyed Christmas.

Having seen their eight-match winning run come to an end at Everton just before Santa’s arrival, Enzo Maresca’s side suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to neighbours Fulham on Boxing Day.

And while the two results represent a major blow to Chelsea and their outside title hopes, they should not detract from the fine job the Italian has done at bringing calm to Stamford Bridge.

It has also been a good 2024 for Ipswich following their promotion to the Premier League.

The Tractor Boys have found life difficult in the top-flight, though. Despite a summer of frenzied recruitment, Ipswich go into tonight’s game in 19th position having won two league games all season.
