West Ham have cancelled their press conference scheduled for this afternoon, intensifying speculation Julen Lopetegui is set to be sacked.
The Spaniard only took over at the London Stadium in May but has presided over an underwhelming start to the season with the Hammers 14th in the Premier League table.
Lopetegui was due before the media today to preview Friday’s FA Cup third-round clash at Aston Villa but the club announced this morning it will no longer go ahead.
Graham Potter is the favourite to take over with reports suggesting the former Chelsea boss has held several rounds of talks with the West Ham board.
The Daily Mail claim the East London club want Potter to join on a short-term deal until the end of the season with the 49-year-old wanting a longer contract.
There is also the possibility of West Ham being gazumped by Everton, who are mulling over the future of Sean Dyche following their takeover by the Friedkin Group.
Should Potter head to Merseyside then Christophe Galtier has emerged as a potential alternative.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss is currently head coach of Al Duhail in Qatar but would relish the chance to move to the Premier League.
