Jude Bellingham scored his ninth goal in 11 matches in all competitions as Real Madrid beat Mallorca 3-0 at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City to set up a Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.

England forward Bellingham put the holders in front in the 63rd minute, slotting in after Rodrygo had sent a header against a post and Kylian Mbappe’s shot had been saved by goalkeeper Dominik Greif as part of a counter-attack.

Opposition defender Martin Valjent turned in Brahim Diaz’s pass for Madrid’s second in the 92nd minute, with Rodrygo joining the scoresheet three minutes later from Lucas Vazquez’s searching cross.

Both squads were involved in a confrontation on the pitch after the final whistle in an incident that appeared to have been sparked by a disagreement between Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo and Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

The reigning Spanish and European champions will meet domestic title rivals Barca in the decider at the same stadium on Sunday (7pm GMT).

Madrid vs Mallorca

Madrid had all 11 of the attempts on target between the teams but were hampered by a lack of accuracy, with Mbappe now without a goal in more than three-and-a-half hours of football.

Despite having 35% of possession and far fewer chances, Mallorca had arguably the best opportunity before falling behind when Cyle Larin spurned an excellent opening from Dani Rodriguez’s first-half cross.

Aurelien Tchouameni’s condition may be of greater concern to Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. The midfielder was playing a starring role until he was poleaxed while defending a cross against Larin five minutes after the restart, colliding with the forward and leaving the action with concussion.

Greif made late saves from strikes by Rodrygo and Mbappe, although the sixth-placed side in Spain were not unduly troubled until the unfortunate Valjent stabbed Brahim Diaz’s incisive pass beyond Greif.

Mbappe would almost certainly have reached the ball and scored had Valjent not stretched to intervene, and Mallorca could have had few complaints after creating precious little for much of the game.

Spanish Super Cup final: Madrid vs Barcelona

Rodrygo’s goal prefaced a curious scene after full time, with Ancelotti among the apparent peacekeepers after a keenly-contested game ended in acrimony.

Madrid, who are five points above third-placed Barca at the top of La Liga, will now seek revenge in the final against the team who beat them 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on November 16.

Ancelotti’s side won the fixture 4-1 in last season’s final, including a first-half Vinicius Junior hat-trick.
