Real Madrid staged a dramatic extra-time victory over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey Round of 16, securing a 5-2 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the 37th minute, finishing a brilliant solo run from a tight angle after a long ball from Dani Ceballos.

Vinicius Junior made it 2-0 a few minutes after half-time, making it a comfortable scoreline for the hosts.

But Celta fought back in the second half. Jonathan Bamba equalised in the 83rd minute, capitalising on Eduardo Camavinga’s mistake, and moments later, Marcos Alonso converted a penalty to level the match at 2-2, sending the game to extra time.

The hosts regained control in extra time, spurred on by their young talents.

Endrick restored Madrid’s lead in the 108th minute with a powerful strike following a clever pass from Arda Guler.

Federico Valverde added a stunning fourth, unleashing a thunderous strike into the top corner from the edge of the area.

With time running out, Endrick sealed the victory with a sensational backheel finish in the 119th minute.

Despite moments of brilliance from Celta, including an early header from Starfelt that struck the post, Madrid’s quality shone through in the decisive moments.

Goalkeeper Villar’s heroics kept Celta in the match early on, but the attacking prowess of Endrick, and Valverde in extra time were the difference.

Ancelotti’s side advance to the quarter-finals, where they will join rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in a bid to lift the famous Spanish trophy by the end of the season.
