Former Tottenham striker Mido has unleashed a brutal attack on the club’s hierarchy.

The Egyptian was jokingly told he may need to come out of retirement to help save Spurs’ season after another agonising loss at the weekend, this time to Everton.

Despite a mammoth injury list, chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange have only managed to bring in one new face so far this month in Antonin Kinsky.

But there is a need for more recruitment before the January transfer window closes.

Ex-star Mido has had his say on Ange Postecoglou, who is at risk of losing his job after a dismal run, but he believes it is not the Australian head coach’s fault that Spurs are where they are.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t think Ange, or any coach, is the problem.

“I think, honestly, the people on top, they’ve been running the club from a financial point of view, not from a football point of view, and I feel sorry for every Spurs fan.”

Since losing Harry Kane two summers ago, Postecoglou has tried to steady the ship in North London.

And after securing a fifth-placed finish in his first term, things were looking up at Tottenham.

But this season Postecoglou has seen his squad riddled with injuries, contributing to them currently sitting 15th-placed in the Premier League.

Although, Spurs are still in with a shot of silverware. They remain in the FA Cup and Europa League, but sit one game away from Wembley if they can hang on to their lead against Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Having said that, if they are to win any of these competitions, there needs to be significant movement in the transfer market in the next 11 days.
