Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface looks to be edging closer to a move to Al Nassr after manager Xabi Alonso confirmed the Nigerian won’t be involved in Wednesday’s game against Sparta Prague.

Al Nassr are reportedly keen to add to the Nigerian to their ranks for a move that would see him link up with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“There are discussions with the club and we need to wait. We’re preparing without Boni,” Alonso told reporters Tuesday.

“We will see. We need to wait a bit more but our preparation is with the rest of our squad who are ready and fit and in good shape at the moment.

“It’s the last Champions League game and that’s our focus.”

Al-Nassr are keen for a new striker to support Ronaldo, with current forward partner Anderson Talisca expected to move to Fenerbahce.

It appears inceasingly likely that Boniface will be the player they land with German transfer insider Florian PlettenbergΒ revealing that the 24-year-old was absent from Leverkusen training on Tuesday.

Boniface has impressed since joining Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023, scoring 20 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances as the German side won the title last season.

Alongside the Nigeria striker, Al-Nassr have also been linked with a big-money move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

The Colombian striker has impressed this season but remains behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order at Villa Park, though Unai Emery and Co are thought to be unwilling to sell the 21-year-old.

Villa have reportedly slapped an Β£100million price tag on the young forward, who has scored 12 goals this season.
