Match preview for Manchester City v Brighton

Brighton head to Etihad Stadium in great form and with a chance of leapfrogging Manchester City in the congested race for a European spot.

City were beaten by Nottingham Forest last weekend but have never lost a home match against Brighton in any division.

City have already lost nine times in the league though and another would make it the most defeats that Pep Guardiola has suffered in a league season.

So can Brighton do it?

Team news for Manchester City v Brighton

City have been without key midfielder Rodri for most of the season and he remains out while defenders John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are all also still out.

Rico Lewis could come in at full-back or Guardiola could stick with midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Brighton have full-back Tariq Lamptey back from a one-game ban and captain Lewis Dunk is close to a return from a rib injury.

Danny Welbeck could return in attack – the former Manchester United man has never scored a league goal against City.

They have the momentum and while City’s form is irregular it’s still a big ask to go to the Etihad and win. We’re saying a draw.
