It’s another Berlin derby this weekend in the Bundesliga as Hertha Berlin are set to welcome their rivals Union Berlin to the Olympiastadion in the German capital with the two sides in completely different areas of the table.
Just like last season, it’s been another memorable one for Union and they now sit as the closest rivals to Bayern Munich’s stranglehold on the Bundesliga by sitting second in the table.
Union managed to edge past Werder Bremen last time out and beat Hoffenheim 3-1 in the returning game in Germany after the World Cup. As Freiburg, Frankfurt and Leipzig have all dropped points in this time, Urs Fischer’s side have rocketed right next to Bayern.
Fischer’s side are only three behind the champions in first and they are not going to move into first even if they win here, as the goals difference tally is an incredible +26 in favour of the league leaders.
As for Hertha, they got handed their worst result of the season last time out when they lost 3-1 to VfL Bochum to push them into the automatic relegation spots and not in the play-offs. Once more, they are expected to get beaten here.
