Match preview
Last in the Bundesliga will play hosts to the Champions League-chasing RB Leipzig this Tuesday evening in the German top flight with Schalke returning to action with another dreadful display on the road as Leipzig drew with Bayern Munich.
At the Red Bull Arena last Friday, Marcel Halstenberg equalised in the second half for Marco Rose’s men in the game with Bayern to become one of only six teams to take points off them in the Bundesliga this season.
Rose’s side now sit fifth in the Bundesliga and narrowly ahead of Borussia Dortmund in the race for the European spots. On the other hand, they are one point behind Frankfurt, Union Berlin and Freiburg in the race for a spot in the top four.
A win here could rocket Leipzig into second for the time being at least, but for Schalke, they have six points to earn if they are to get out of the bottom two.
The club were smashed 3-0 by Frankfurt last time out and their immediate return to the Bundesliga could not be going much worse right now.
So far, Schalke have let in 35 goals and netted the fewest in the league (13) alongside just two wins.
