Schalke are looking for their first win since the World Cup break ended when they meet with Wolfsburg at the VELTINS-Arena on Friday night to kick off the fifth game post-World Cup in the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg have had a very topsy-turvy restart to the action in Germany. The Wolves began with a stunning 6-0 win over the title-chasing Freiburg, just prior to then hammering Hertha Berlin in the capital 5-0.
However, they were then beaten 2-1 by Werder Bremen just before they were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal 2-1 by Union Berlin. It now leaves Wolfsburg way behind the title race at a stage where it looked as if they could stroll into it.
As for Schalke, despite their dreadful form, they have managed to avoid defeats and keep two clean sheets in their past two games. Nevertheless, it keeps them with just two wins all season long and 12 defeats. Schalke also sit eight adrift of safety.
The 2. Bundesliga champions head into this one off the back of a 0-0 draw with Koln and a 0-0 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach. Now, despite the clean sheets, it’s tough to see how they beat Wolfsburg here.
