Match preview for Barcelona v Borussia Dortmund

Top of La Liga and flying in Europe, Barcelona will hope to continue their fine season when they come up against last year’s finalists Borussia Dortmund in the last eight of the Champions League.

Barca lead the way in Spain by four points and look well placed for another title – but can they win the Champions League after a 10-year wait?

With Bayern Munich and Barca, manager Hansi Flick has won all six of his meetings with Borussia Dortmund and will be hoping to extend that run against a side who have never beaten the Catalans.

Dortmund are well off the pace in the Bundesliga, languishing in eighth, but have a canny knack of saving their best for the European stage.

Team news for Barcelona v Borussia Dortmund

Barca will be without playmaker Dani Olmo as the Spain international has a muscle injury, but defender Inigo Martinez should be ok to feature after missing the recent internationals.

In-form Raphinha was rested at the weekend but will start in attack once more.

Dortmund are without former Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, while Nico Schlotterbeck has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Prediction

Barcelona have been imperious in Europe so far this season and even though Dortmund save their best for the Champions League this looks like a step too far. They will compete and look to take a good scoreline back to the Westfalenstadion but I expect Barca to be too strong.

Prediction: Barcelona 2-0 Borussia Dortmund
