City has had a connection to Dortmund in recent years after first prying talented German international midfielder Ilkay Gündogan away from North Rhine-Westphalia in 2016 before this summer also securing the services of Norwegian goalscoring sensation Erling Haaland.
Haaland’s potential return to his old stomping grounds, should he start, is sure to draw some attention on a night where the Premier League giants can confirm the top spot in Group G as they come into proceedings sitting three points clear of the Bundesliga outfit, with City earning a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture on matchday two.

Guardiola’s men come into the midweek clash after a hard-fought 3-1 win against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium, while Dortmund reminded the top-flight of German football that they are still a force to be reckoned with on their day after a 5-0 thrashing of VfB Stuttgart that kept them in striking distance of returning to the top four, with Jude Bellingham bagging a brace as he continues to produce influential displays as a constant rate.
Both sides are incredibly capable on any given European night, and Dortmund put up a credible fight when they met earlier in the group stage, but City probably will come out on top here, though Dortmund is more than good enough to produce a shock result if they are in the mood.
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Manchester City
