Manchester City head into the second leg with a five-goal lead.
City ran riot in Lisbon two weeks ago as they defeated Sporting 5-0.
Goals from Mahrez, Foden, Sterling and a Bernardo Silva brace sealed the win.
Pep Guardiola’s side once again demonstrated their strength on the weekend as they thrashed Man United.
The 4-1 win maintains their six-point lead at the top over Liverpool.
Sporting’s near impossible task
Sporting Lisbon face one of the biggest challenges in Champions League history when they face Man City.
The Portuguese champions must overturn a five-goal deficit at the Etihad to reach the next round.
Rúben Amorim’s team’s main focus will be on closing the gap at the top of the Liga NOS on Porto.
Sporting currently trail Porto by six points.

Man City have been dealt a big blow with Ruben Dias being ruled out for several weeks.
He joins Nathan Ake, Cole Palmer and Zack Steffen on the sidelines.
Sporting Lisbon team news
Matheus Nunes picked up another booking in the first-leg and is suspended for the trip to Manchester.
Sporting will also be without Joao Palhinha, Pedro Goncalves and Daniel Braganca who are all injured.
Pedro Porro is ineligible to face his parent club.
