Match preview

Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to get back in the win column after a poor run of form in the Premier League as they welcome Sporting Lisbon to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with just two Champions League games left to play.

Despite the concern in the Premier League, Spurs are still sitting third and five points behind league leaders Arsenal. On the other hand, after losing to their north London rivals before losses to Manchester United and Newcastle United within the past seven days, it does now mean Antonio Conte’s side have won just two Premier League games from the past five, as they got all three points and two clean sheets against Brighton and Everton.

In the Champions League, Conte’s men are top of Group D after victories over the Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt. They do, however, have a 0-0 draw in their too and have also lost to Sporting in the last meeting involving these two sides as Paulinho and Arthur scored a goal each after 90 minutes in a sensational smash and grab.

It’s been tough for Sporting in the Champions League this season and on the domestic front too, as Marseille managed to beat them in the last European game, before they were handed a huge upset from Varzim in the Taca de Portugal.

The Portuguese giants are now fourth in the league with just six wins from 10 games and three losses. They have still netted 21 goals so far and conceded 13, which will bode well for a Spurs side that have scored two more league goals but let in one more too.
