Match preview
Two sides fresh off timely respective returns to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at St. Andrew’s Stadium this Saturday, April 1st.
The matchup in question will see Birmingham City act as hosts, in a meeting with Blackburn Rovers.
First, let’s take a look at the recent endeavours of the former.
Birmingham, for their part, enjoyed a fruitful couple of weeks leading into the international break.
Either side of a three-goal drubbing at the hands of Watford, John Eustace’s troops put fellow relegation candidates Rotherham United and, most recently, Queens Park Rangers, to the sword.
Such efforts have allowed Birmingham to open a full nine-point buffer to the drop zone, now sitting 17th, with their status in England’s 2nd tier all but secured for another year.

Whilst Saturday’s hosts continue in efforts to stave off the drop, though, their upcoming opponents are chasing down a return to the top-flight of English football.
Blackburn, for their part, have enjoyed a timely resurgence over the course of the last couple of months.
All told, dating back to mid-February, Rovers have slipped to just a solitary defeat in ten, a stretch including wins in five of the club’s last six.
Most recently, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s troops bounced back from a hard-fought loss at the hands of Stoke City, courtesy of a 2-1 downing of Reading at Ewood Park.
An ensuing exit from the FA Cup at Sheffield United, though, does mean that Blackburn have emerged on the wrong side of the result in two of their last three across all competitions.
Nevertheless, Tomasson and co. sit in the thick of the promotion playoff picture, occupying 5th spot in the Championship, whilst in possession of a game in hand on both Middlesbrough and Luton Town above them.
Saturday’s visitors to St. Andrew’s should therefore be viewed as favourites to ultimately depart with all three points.
We at 101, though, would not be all that surprised if Birmingham managed to spring a surprise, in holding Blackburn to an eventual share of the spoils.
