Match preview

Two sides separated by just a solitary point in the Championship table are set to face off at St. Andrew’s Stadium on Saturday, March 11th.

The matchup in question will see struggling Birmingham City act as hosts, in a meeting with Rotherham United.

Beginning with the former, Birmingham have found positive results altogether difficult to come by of late.

In fact, the Blues currently stand as one of the most out-of-form sides in England’s 2nd tier.

To their credit, last time out, Birmingham did at least manage to stop the slide, in battling their way to a share of the spoils at bottom-of-the-table Wigan Athletic.

But their long-standing woes mean that Eustace and co, nevertheless, sit just three places clear of the bottom three.

Safe to say, then, that a return to winning ways would mark an altogether timely one for Saturday’s hosts at St. Andrew’s.

Securing such a result, though, will prove no easy task.

This comes with upcoming opponents Rotherham having enjoyed an altogether more fruitful time of things of late.

Themselves long in the thick of the battle against the drop to League One, Matt Taylor’s men have pieced together a much-needed stretch of productivity dating back to last month.

All told, the Millers have racked up seven points from an available nine, a run added to courtesy of a 3-1 downing of Queens Park Rangers at the New York Stadium last weekend.

Rotherham, in turn, have climbed clear of their upcoming hosts, to 18th in the Championship standings.

Their heavy underdog status with the bookmakers means that Taylor and co. could therefore well be worth backing to ultimately emerge from St. Andrew’s on the right side of the result later today.

Do not rule out hosts Birmingham battling their way to an eventual share of the spoils, though.
