Two of the bottom three clubs face off at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday, with the clash already looking like something of a ‘must-win’ for the hosts, while Middlesbrough will be looking to push themselves away from danger after a poor start to the season.
Coventry have picked up just three points and are without a win so far in the campaign, and the absence of Gustavo Hamer who starts a four-match suspension provides further headaches for manager Mark Robins. On the positive side however, the Sky Blues have recorded back-to-back draws and kept their first clean sheet of the season at Birmingham two weeks ago to provide a glimmer of hope for the coming weeks.
Boro have been the surprise story of the Championship so far, with Chris Wilder’s side fancied to have a tilt at promotion having missed out on the play-offs by five points last year.
With just two wins from their 10 games to date, that form has yet to materialise and Wilder is now being heavily linked to the vacant manager’s role at Bournemouth to add further uncertainty. Despite their league standing however, Wilder is confident they have deserved better this season and insists it is only a matter of time before their fortunes are reversed, so at 7/5 they could provide decent value for a win.
