Match preview

Two clubs in the thick of the battle against relegation from the Championship are set to lock horns at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday, November 1st.

The clash in question will see a Hull City outfit eyeing a swift return to winning ways play host to a Middlesbrough side desperate for three points, too.

Let’s first take a look at the recent efforts of the former.

Hull, after a morale-boosting couple of weeks, were brought firmly back down to earth at the weekend.

As a result, Andy Dawson’s troops have slipped back to 18th in England’s 2nd tier, just three points clear of both the relegation zone, and their upcoming opponents.

It must be noted, though, that prior to this, Andy Dawson’s troops had provided a timely reminder of their potential when firing on all cylinders, courtesy of a seven-goal haul across back-to-back wins over Blackpool and Rotherham United.

Safe to say, then, that all associated with Tuesday’s hosts will be hopeful of a swift return to such form in midweek.

And, in truth, Hull could not ask for a much more favourable opponent in their bid to do precisely that.

This comes with Middlesbrough in the thick of a nightmare campaign of their own.

The Yorkshire outfit currently sit locked on points with 22nd-placed Coventry, owing to a paltry haul of just four wins from 17 attempts.

Optimism did appear to have been restored at the Riverside late last week, when Michael Carrick, fresh off four points secured from an available six, was installed in the Boro dugout.

But such hopes were swiftly dashed, upon an injury-time Jordan Storey strike condemning Middlesbrough to a hard-fought defeat at Preston North End on Saturday.

And we at 101 do not envision things getting all that much better for Tuesday’s visitors to the MKM Stadium.

Instead, come the full-time whistle, expect Hull to ultimately emerge from proceedings with all three points.
