Match preview

Relegation-battling Hull City will be hopeful of making it three consecutive outings without defeat when they play host to a Reading outfit majorly struggling for form on Saturday, November 12th.

The Tigers, amid a season to forget to date, have enjoyed an altogether timely encouraging stretch of form over the course of the last week.

First, in Liam Rosenior’s debut outing in the club’s dugout, Hull clinched a commendable share of the spoils away to promotion-chasing Millwall.

This came despite key attacker Oscar Estupinan being sent for an early bath with time to spare in the first-half.

After falling behind just beyond the hour mark in a trip to relegation rivals Cardiff City, a late double on the part of Regan Slater proved enough to guide Rosenior and co. to the right side of a 3-2 final scoreline.

The Tigers, in turn, have put some breathing room between themselves and the bottom three, now sitting 19th.

And all associated with Saturday’s hosts will no doubt be quietly confident in the club’s chances of keeping alive this positive run of results next time out.

This comes with upcoming opponents Reading majorly struggling for form at present.

The Royals, of course, surprised the masses earlier in the campaign, in establishing themselves at the heart of the battle for a promotion playoff berth.

Recent weeks, however, have seen Paul Ince’s side fall off the pace in the Championship in nothing short of alarming fashion.

All told, since the beginning of last month, Reading have secured just a solitary three-point haul from their last nine attempts.

Not only that, but six of these outings have culminated in defeat.

The most recent came in midweek, when a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford saw Joao Pedro’s double condemn the Royals to a deserved 2-0 loss.

Such woes have culminated in Ince and co. slipping not only out of the top-6, but into the bottom half of the table, now, worryingly, just six points clear of the relegation zone.

Safe to say, then, that it is Hull who will head into Saturday’s action the more confident of the two sides.

We at 101, though, are backing Reading to ultimately do enough to depart the MKM Stadium with a hard-fought share of the spoils.
