Match preview

Two sides in search of a bounce-back result are set to face off in a Championship clash at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, October 29th.

The matchup in question will see Luton Town kick their push for a spot in the promotion playoff picture back into gear, in a showdown with Sunderland.

Starting with the former, Luton, prior to last weekend, had actually stood as one of the most in-form sides in England’s 2nd tier.

The Hatters, either side of the international break, enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak, a run which included head-turning back-to-back wins over Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City.

In turn, it came as a major surprise to see Nathan Jones’ men brought crashing back down to earth in such spectacular fashion last time out.

This came as a trip to Vicarage Road gave rise to an eventual 4-0 drubbing at the hands of an inconsistent Watford.

Luton, as a result, have slipped back down to 9th in the table.

Saturday’s hosts, though, will no doubt be confident in their chances of getting things firmly back on track next time out.

This comes with the Hatters primed to take on a Sunderland outfit struggling for form.

Tony Mowbray’s troops have managed just a solitary victory from their last seven attempts, a run which includes three defeats in four since early October.

Last time out, a meeting with table-topping Burnley did see the Black Cats look as though they were on the cusp of a spectacular return to form, after racing out into a two-goal advantage courtesy of Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo, and Dan Neil.

A 2nd-half collapse, however, ultimately gave rise to a 4-2 defeat, plunging Sunderland to 15th, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

We at 101, as a result, are backing Luton to add ever further to the woes of the travelling Black Cats on Saturday, courtesy of a return to winning ways come the full-time whistle at Kenilworth Road.
