Reading enjoyed a fine victory away to Cardiff City last time out but did suffer a 1-0 defeat to Blackpool on the opening weekend, making for a mixed start to the season. Despite struggling last year and only avoiding relegation thanks to Derby’s huge points deduction, Reading do have cause to be more optimistic about the season ahead, with a new manager in Paul Ince at the helm.
They do boast Championship quality in their squad as well, with Paul’s son Tom (now a veteran at this level) in their ranks as well as Shane Long and Jeff Hendrick who were both Premier League regulars not so long ago. Finding consistency is a must if they are to avoid a repeat of last season and making it two wins in a row here would be a start. However, they do enter this clash as outsiders by some distance at odds of 23/10.
