Match preview

Two sides in search of a bounce-back result are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the Liberty Stadium on Friday, December 30th.

The matchup in question will see struggling Swansea City play host to Watford.

Starting with the former, Swansea have long been slipping down the table in England’s 2nd tier, owing to an alarming stretch of results.

Once flying high in the thick of the promotion playoff battle, the Welsh outfit now, remarkably, sit 16th, owing to a run of eight successive outings without a single victory.

When all was said and done, though, the Swans, once more, were condemned to defeat, owing to goals on the part of Andy Carroll and Tom Ince.

Safe to say, then, that Friday’s hosts could do with a three-point haul, or risk being sucked firmly into the Championship’s relegation scrap.

The same, though, could too be said for their upcoming opponents.

Unlike Swansea, Watford remain at the heart of the battle for promotion to England’s top-flight, sitting in joint-4th as things stand.

The Hornets, however, have not actually looked particularly impressive of late.

All told, Slaven Bilic and co. have notched just a solitary victory from their last four, at the expense of relegation-battling Huddersfield Town.

Last time out, meanwhile, a meeting with Millwall at Vicarage Road saw Hassane Kamara’s first-half dismissal prove costly, en route to a two-goal defeat.

Nevertheless, should Watford ultimately emerge from proceedings with all three points on Friday night, then they will leapfrog both Blackburn and Sunderland, into 3rd spot.

And though such a result certainly looks a strong possibility, we at 101 are backing the spoils to ultimately be shared come the full-time whistle at the Liberty Stadium later tonight.
