The first Welsh derby of the season sees Swansea head into the game the much more confident of the two sides, with four wins and a defeat in their last five games putting them just outside the play-off places by virtue of goal difference.
The Swans did the double over their rivals last season – winning convincingly 3-0 and 4-0 – and have suffered just one defeat in their last seven meetings which means they head into the game as overwhelming favourites, particularly after coming from 2-0 down to beat Reading 3-2 on Tuesday night.
It has been a different story altogether for Cardiff, who have already departed with Steve Morison since the start of the campaign and after a hint of a revival with successive victories over Blackburn and Wigan, have been pegged back by two defeats in a week.
The 3-0 defeat to QPR suffered on Wednesday is perhaps admissible considering QPR’s position in the league, but a 1-0 loss at home to struggling Coventry means there are plenty of concerns for the visitors ahead of the trip to Swansea.
